DO WE LEARN MORE FROM OUR MISTAKES OR OUR SUCCESSES?

There is no simple answer.

“Ain’t you hungry for success, success, success, success?”

“Shattered” by The Rolling Stones

And the answer is…

What motivates someone is the key. A bit of both can provide the balance and better prepare the entrepreneur for a road that most likely will have some potholes.

Setbacks can be a learning tool and the response will determine the value. “Gain from pain” is a common quote that considers the upside of a setback.

Success is a reward and affirmation that there is progress. A pat on the back is always encouraging. Don’t let it go to your head though.

Many quotes on success relate to overcoming failure. “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm” – Winston Churchill.

Taking steps

The book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” states that the mistakes allow us to grow. But you still need some positive events to know you’re progressing and to maintain the euphoria of being an entrepreneur. A combination of two steps forward, one step back, is a desired formula.

A distinguished list

How many successful entrepreneurs went bankrupt before succeeding? Henry Ford, Henry J. Heinz, Walt Disney, Stan Lee, George Foreman, all did. What a list.

Learning will remain the most important aspect of the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur in pursuit of a successful business.
