I was a restaurateur and after these many years I can proudly state that my head is definitely on straight. I’ve come to terms with my past ventures that didn’t go the way I planned. “Failure” is a difficult word to accept at any time.
Fortunately, I was able to get back on my feet in my mid-30s by landing a career with a school district as a business manager.
There was enough stability that I still dabbled in foodservice (school cafeteria and catering) and even tried one last venture creating a restaurant board game in my spare time.
Do I need a therapist?
I joke that I have a therapist to help me with my restaurant issues/demons. Well, my therapist is this blog. Relating my thoughts and knowledge of being a restaurant entrepreneur, to hopefully benefit others, is part of the healing process.
And it will be more meaningful than what most professional counselors could ever offer.
