ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS

“You’re up one day and the next you’re down. It’s a half an inch of water and you think you’re gonna drown”

“That’s the Way the World Goes Round” by John Prine

Being an entrepreneur means having to ride a roller coaster of emotions. How these emotions are handled (good & bad) and the value placed on them will have an impact on the level of success.

The highs & lows

Too high or too low can be damaging. Accept the lows and learn from them. Realize they will periodically appear. This will then make the ups even more gratifying.

If there is trouble keeping the lows in check, then maybe the venture needs to be reevaluated. Patience will be needed until the right venture comes along. If the lows are more than can be tolerated, then entrepreneurship may not be a viable path.

Composure

Maintain a composed outlook so emotions are in check. Passion is great, in doses. The restaurant industry craves it. However, business requires that emotions are kept in check so rash decisions are avoided.
