STUBBORN OR JUST FOCUSED?

“Still a man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest”

“The Boxer” by Simon & Garfunkel

No matter what anyone else may say – and there will be good arguments to the contrary – you are either focused on the course of action chosen or too stubborn to be swayed from it.

The right application of an entrepreneur’s trait

Determination is a trait that entrepreneurs must possess to climb over all the roadblocks that will surely appear. Keeping your eye on the prize has never been more applicable.

Advice, comments, and criticism will come from all sides. The attribute of an entrepreneur is to stay true to the belief in not only what the venture is but how it will proceed.

The voice of reason

An example may be to expand when it may not be prudent, but there is a strong desire to grow the business. Controlling gut feelings while listening to reason is imperative. Risk is always a concern, but that’s what entrepreneurs do.

The voices you choose to listen to and who is speaking are important. Trust and respect for these individuals will govern the weight given to their opinions. The voice in the entrepreneur’s head will be the loudest though, and this is when the stubbornness needs to be tempered.

“Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!”

can sink your ship of dreams.

Caution is not an entrepreneur’s sexiest trait, but it will be needed to balance the required fortitude. The entrepreneur will need both.
