THIS BLOG IS A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD

Publishing a blog is not only fun and creative, but it also gets me excited. Granted it’s a shitload of work, especially since I want to do it right. Doing it right also means taking the time to learn all the ins & outs of maintaining a blog. Thus, writing the blog is a double-edged sword.

Lots to do

Creating, editing, and linking content, which includes information, opinions, graphics, pictures, music, and videos, is so involved. Add in the intricacies of publishing with WordPress and its rules, and the learning curve is especially daunting even for someone who is recently retired.

Pride is a guide

Even though my blog is a sideline, I still want to do a good job. There is a lot of pride involved. I must remember that, unlike my restaurants, this blog is accessible to anyone, anywhere, with a click of a button.

Then there’s the continual learning of editing tools, such as Wondershare Filmora9, Pixelmator, and Adobe, that I use to create the content.

The benefits

I don’t know what I would be doing in my retirement if it wasn’t for this blog, although I recently started working part-time at a liquor store. After recovering from a health issue, I got cabin fever. Getting back into the beverage industry was a natural move and as good as it gets.

This blog keeps me engaged and gently forces me to continue to reflect and write about my experiences as an entrepreneur in the foodservice industry.

Exciting is not an exaggeration as it’s enthralling to view my blog on my phone, tablet, or desktop. As I noted, the blog is available to anyone, anywhere, with an internet connection. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.
